Summary

The Sit is built to work without collecting personal data. The app does not collect, store, transmit, or sell personal information. All your sessions, notes, and settings stay on your device.

Data the app collects

Analytics / tracking

Data storage

All app data — your templates, session logs, journal entries, places, people, sounds, and settings — is stored locally on your device.

iOS may include this app’s local data in your device backup (iCloud or iTunes / Finder). Backup behaviour is controlled by iOS, not by The Sit. The Sit also offers its own optional .thesitbackup archive that you can save to iCloud Drive or share between your own devices; backup encryption is on the roadmap.

Network

Apple Health (optional)

If you enable Apple Health logging in Settings, each completed meditation session is written to the Mindful Minutes category in your iPhone’s Apple Health database. iOS handles any cross-device sync via iCloud Health; The Sit itself does not transmit this data anywhere. The integration is write-only — The Sit never reads heart rate, HRV, or any other Health data. Disable the toggle at any time to stop new writes.

In-app purchases

The Sit is free to download. Free use is limited to a time-bounded trial; a one-time non-consumable in-app purchase (“Lifetime access”) lifts the trial limit and unlocks the app permanently on your devices.

Purchases are handled entirely by Apple via StoreKit. Apple receives the standard purchase information; payment details are not shared with the app. The app stores only a local flag indicating whether Lifetime access has been unlocked on this device.

Sharing

The Sit lets you export and import templates as .thesit-template files. These contain only the structure of the template (its markers, sounds, haptics, visuals) — never your journal entries, session logs, or any personal data.

The full backup archive (.thesitbackup) does include all app data, and is intended for moving your own data between your own devices.
